Around 90,000 e-bikes are stolen in the Netherlands each year. On average, an e-bike quickly costs between €2,500 and €3,000. When buying a bike, it often involves large amounts. Which makes it interesting for the thief.
Preventing bicycle theft starts with good prevention. A ring lock alone will not stop thieves. They can break open your lock, or simply lift your bike. With a second lock, this is a lot more difficult. That is why, as of March 1, 2024, a second ART lock will be mandatory for all Bicycle Insurances for e-bikes.
